What is DXN?
DXN is the collaborative effort of Doryoku Streetworks and Northrides Car Club. Born out of necessity, DXN provides a space in the Toronto car scene that is free from the toxic attitudes prevalent at many events in the GTA.
Not just a car show, DXN showcases the merging relationship of street car culture and track culture as one. With events such as our annual Invitational show, Summer Shakedown track event, and The DXN Swap meet, we provide a variety of events to introduce attendees and participants to the many subcultures within the car scene.
Our shows are not for trophy hunters, and our track events are not exclusive to only the wealthy who can afford high dollar vehicles. Check your Ego at the door, and come experience what car culture as been missing for the last decade.
Northrides Car Club.
Written by Jason DeFreitas
Created in 2015 by a few friends from high school, Northrides has remained a staple in the Orangeville car community. The original car club centered around Monday night meets at the Orangeville mall and would feature cars and trucks of all makes. Eventually, the meets had to come to and end due to issues with attendees not respecting the spot.
After a 3 year Hiatus, Northrides returned the second summer of Covid as a response to the severe lack of activities available during that time. Weekly meets began again from spring to fall, with the occasional winter beater meet for those willing to hangout during the cold winter nights. Unfortunately, the meets quickly grew out of hand once again.
With a growing number of new attendees from outside the Orangeville area, idiots would attempt to do burnouts or pulls next to people walking with their families at the meet spots. Eventually the weekly meets had to come to and end, as the mall owners were not happy with the actions of the small stupid few.
Instead of retiring the meets for good, Northrides pivoted to community oriented hangouts instead of typical car meets. Focusing on smaller events catered towards locals who have always shared the same values. With the help of Dorkyoku Streetworks via DXN, Northrides has grown into a community for all car enthusiasts who are tired of Takeover culture poisoning the car scene. Today public car meets still happen in Orangeville alongside the Track and Show events. We look forward to seeing you out at Northrides events this summer!
Doryoku Streetworks
Doryoku (努力, どりょく) is a Japanese noun meaning
"effort," "exertion," "endeavor," or "hard work"
. It implies consistently applying oneself to achieve a goal, often used in contexts of self-improvement, study, or overcoming obstacles through persistent, dedicated action.
Doryoku Street Works is the brain child of a certified gearhead who's been in the car scene since the late 90s, but the group is composed of like minded individuals who are passionate about automotive and all that encompasses it. Coming from an amazing group of brothers who, to this day, still embrace classic Japanese car culture, have pushed forward into the newer more neo-classic Japanese car. But they are more than just lovers of the land of the rising sun, they support and encourage all makes and models to join them on their journeys into automotive culture.
We have gathered a number of cars and people to bring you a better car experience in the GTA. Stemming from all automotive disciplines, and working together with our affiliates, sponsors, other car clubs, shops, we will bring you the best and brightest from the car community. From track days, meets, shows, people, and lifestyle, Doryoku Street Works will be there.
We have been blessed to team up with the great brothers from Northrides car club out of Orangeville and Kaizo Supply co. With this melding of the minds, DXN was created. A platform to showcase the best in the car scene. Doryoku will always remember that it all started on the street and will transition those lessons to the race track. The love for motorsports has allowed us to focus on track oriented apparel, equipment, instructing, and being able to bring fun track events to the car masses. We aim to create better drivers and have a fun time in the process.
Max Attack Motorsports
Written by Wade McGinnis
Inspired by track culture and authenticity, many moons ago, in the early years of the 2010’s, Max Attack Motorsports was created. In the blue collar settings of the demolition derby world, with a never say never attitude, and a “why can’t I?” approach, the process and mindset was locked in. Under a number of names, some better left offline, Max Attack was actually named after a beloved pet who would attack furniture and the odd door salesman. Who would have thought that now it correlates to attacking corners and straightaways.
From there, Max Attack Motorsports would go on to play a role at many motorsport events, from working Nascar Canada races as crew member, to basic track maintenance, and even motorsport marshalling services, the visits to the track became considered a privilege, and full of important lessons, all of which can be translated to today.
In the year 2020, Max Attack Motorsports began it’s YouTube journey. The journey would consist of many car meets, shows, and interviews and to this day is still active! Although it was never deemed a massive money making success, it created an avenue that played a massive role to where we are now! Through the channel, Max Attack has been able to connect with so many wonderful people, owners, and enthusiasts, with a few of them transcending the car aspect to point where they are considered incredible friends.
As we move forward, and using the knowledge gained over this incredible journey, the goal of Max Attack Motorsports is simple. How can we take the average, low budget track enthusiasts and present them with an environment that makes them feel like the professional driver they dreamt to be? As one third of Doryoku and with the combination of Northrides, it is an honor to be apart of the amazing crew that is DXN.
We’ll see you at the track.
